Johnson Pump Expands its TopGear Portfolio
Charlotte, N.C., July 6, 2021 - SPX FLOW, Inc. (NYSE: FLOW), a leading provider of process solutions for the nutrition, health and industrial markets, has expanded its portfolio of internal gear pumps made by the company’s Johnson Pump brand.
The new TopGear Bloc gear pumps with close-coupled electric motors are more compact and considerably lower in price compared with long coupled pump-motor units on a base plate. The pumps run on motor speed and are suitable for pumping clean, low to medium viscous liquids. This new range of pumps is available in cast iron and stainless steel.
“TopGear has a long history of giving customers proven hydraulic technology, and the TopGear Bloc’s top-notch pump-motor alignment offers a long service life with little maintenance,” said Reinhard Petersen, global product manager for Johnson Pump industrial pumps. “The pump’s simple and compact design means there are fewer wear parts, and it’s suitable to install in tight spaces.”
The pump’s tight internal clearances, combined with its relatively high speed, provides a low-pulsation flow. Its large, in-line ports also spur a low NPSHr and has excellent suction capabilities.
Other benefits of the TopGear Bloc Internal Gear Pump include:
- No misalignment of the pump and motor is possible, which extends the service life of the bearings and mechanical seal.
- Good priming capability.
- The back-end design allows a wide range of standard electric motors to connect to the pump while keeping the proven hydraulic front-end of the TopGear range.
- Several options are available for a range of applications, including built-on safety relief valves and front heating jackets, as well as different mechanical seals.
