SPX FLOW German Sites Reach 500 Days Accident Free
Charlotte, N.C., July 19, 2022 - SPX FLOW, Inc., celebrates significant milestones of its manufacturing sites in Moers and Warburg, Germany for reaching 500 workdays with zero reported safety accidents or injuries.
In Moers, the team has focused on and the installation of a Safety Observation Program, which empowers team members to speak up if they see something that has the potential to cause harm and identify hazards. These actions have attributed to the milestone alongside improvements in the basics--general housekeeping.
"This result is an impressive effort by the entire team,” said Ingo Winter, Moers’ Quality Environmental Health and Safety Manager. “This cannot be achieved without active and willing commitment by every team member.”
SPX FLOW’s Moers facility was home to the original Hankison company, now the SPX FLOW Hankison brand. The site has been designing compressed air treatment components for more than 40 years—including refrigeration, desiccant and membrane dryers, compressed air filters and air maintenance products.
The Warburg industrial mixing facility was formerly UTG Mixing group, producing, testing and designing largescale mixers under the Stelzer brand. Leveraging its onsite laboratory and Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) simulation capabilities, the solutions produced at the Germany site are tailored to primarily food and pharmaceutical applications, ultrasensitive to cleaning and polishing processes. Since being acquired by SPX FLOW last year, the site has enlisted experts on workplace environmental issues to help new team members learn additional avenues to achieve clean and safe working conditions. This is done through training programs, meetings, inspections and risk assessments in compliance with new internal safety goals.
"This milestone demonstrates our commitment to put the safety of our people above all else, the whole team deserves significant recognition for making safety the number one priority," said Arend Gruenewaelder, EMEA Environment, Health and Safety Manager.
In addition to local safety initiatives, SPX FLOW’s Safe and Sound global program focuses on three key pillars: Speak Up, Take Action and Reach Out. The initiative extends the ownership of safety and wellbeing to everyone with the hopes of improving engagement and reducing the potential of future safety incidents.
SPX FLOW has 5,000 team members across the globe and the company tracks safety incidents in accordance with guidelines from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The company’s goal is to reduce total recordable incident rates (TRIR) by 20% each year.
